CAPITOL HILL, SEATTLE WA.
The 2nd in population to only Belltown as the largest populated neighborhood in Seattle, WA, United States, after Belltown (downtown N.). It is the center of the gay and counterculture community in Seattle, while featuring some of Seattle's most attractive mansions.

ORIGIN
The origin of Capitol Hills name is disputed. According to James A. Moore, the real estate developer who plotted the area, named it Capitol Hill hoping that the Washington government would move from Olympia. According to another source, Moore named it after a neighborhood of Denver, Colorado, his wife's hometown.
Capitol Hill was known as Broadway Hill. and due to its large Catholic population Capitol Hill was known as Catholic Hill until about 50 years ago.

DISTRICTS
Capitol Hill hosts a number of Seattle's wealthiest districts, including "Millionaire's Row" south of Volunteer Park and Harvard-Belmont Landmark District. It also has many upscale apartment buildings.

PEOPLE
A walk through Cal Anderson Park reveals a wide variety of people from couples walking dogs, people hanging out on street corners and local technology workers to club-goers from all over Seattle and Bellevue visiting the scene for a night out. Area shoppers can look thru the many retail stores or browse the vintage clothing stores along Broadway or even visit one of the Art galleries or music stores in this busy Capitol Hill neighborhood.
